| In
both Year 4 and Year 6 the children have worked on animated films;
Year 4, as part of their literacy, wrote a story
about a dragon that they could then convert into an animation. Using
plasticine to create the characters and cardboard, paints and collage
effect to create the backdrop, they then used Windows Movie Maker
software and Logitech webcams to create the animation. Finally the
story was narrated over the animation using Windows Movie Maker to
capture the sound.

Year 6, as part of their ICT multimedia module, used
the Digiblue Camera and the Digital Movie Creator 3 software to create
an animation. First, they were shown Paddington Crosses the Road
(see below) as an example of what was possible in a short period
of time. Then over four lessons they initially storyboarded the
animation, choosing characters and creating a beginning, middle, and
end to their story. They created a basic backdrop on white paper using
a black marker pen and then using toys, figurines and Lego they
animated their story.
